ABOUT
Higher Purpose Media
Higher Purpose Media was founded by retired Marine Corps Sergeant Major Michael E. Lillie, a 22-year combat veteran who believes every Marine has a story worth telling.
Not every story is about medals or heroic charges up a hill.
Some are about the lance corporal in Motor-T who kept a rattlesnake in a white-phosphorus bag in his wall locker… until it bit the company gunny during a barracks inspection.
Some stories are hilarious.
Some are heartbreaking.
Some are moments of quiet courage that nobody outside the unit ever hears about.
Those are the stories we are here to preserve.
Higher Purpose Media travels across the United States collecting the voices of everyday Marines — lance corporals, corporals, sergeants, lieutenants, and veterans of every era — capturing their memories before they fade with time.
We help veterans write their own stories, record their experiences, and preserve them for their families, their fellow Marines, and for history.
For those who want to write a book, we help them build it.
For those who simply want their story remembered, we collect it, document it, and include it in veteran anthologies and memoir collections.
Because history is not only written by heroes with medals of honor.
It is written by the knuckleheads who lived it.
Higher Purpose Media exists to make sure those voices are never lost.
Our services
Veteran Story Writing Assistance
We provide structured programs that guide veterans through the process of documenting their experiences. Whether you want to write a full memoir or simply record meaningful moments from your time in service, we help organize your thoughts and turn memories into powerful written stories.
Our goal is to make the process simple, respectful, and authentic to your voice.
Veteran Story Collection & Anthology Projects
Some veterans don’t want to write a book — they just want their story told.
Higher Purpose Media conducts interviews with veterans and collects personal accounts to be included in larger memoir collections and anthologies. These collections may focus on specific units, states, deployments, or eras of service.
We ask the right questions, conduct the research, and draft the narrative for review and approval by the veteran before publication.
This service is provided at zero cost to the veteran.
Veteran Publishing Support
Higher Purpose Media works with veteran-focused nonprofits, publishers, and media organizations to help bring these stories to print.
Publishing services are offered at a reduced cost, ensuring veterans can share their experiences without facing the high barriers often associated with publishing.
Veteran Celebration & Recognition Events
Higher Purpose Media helps organize and coordinate events that honor veterans and their service. These gatherings can include book launches, community recognition events, storytelling nights, or veteran celebrations designed to bring people together.
Our mission is simple:
Every veteran deserves to be recognized.
Whenever possible, we work to reduce or eliminate costs so veterans and their families can celebrate without financial burden.
